I am a female athlete who is passionate about my sport. I have being visually impaired since birth, but this does not stop me training 7 days a week as an able bodied athlete would do. My best achievements to date would be a gold medal at a paralympic international event, and munster champion this year. A lot of my training is done at the RSC in Waterford where I have the assistance of my guide runner Martin. He has had such a positive influence on my training and has put a lot of time in to training with me.
Martin’s background and knowledge in sport and fitness has helped hugely with the technical side of my training and I can already see the improvements. Martin and I have to be attached by a string while running, this can be hard at times, but our partnership has clicked and we are very smooth together. I have been told at the track that we run so well together it appears like we are one person running. Martin and I have some races during the summer and I hope to hit personal bests.
